It’s nearly a year since I moved to London. Life has been both exciting and not so exciting. We have just celebrated our 1st wedding anniversary and we have both settled down well.
This is the first time I have experienced the ‘full season’ from Summer to Spring. The season I love the best? Everyone would definitely say the same-SUMMER! Where the weather is warmer, the flowers are blooming and people are everywhere to enjoy the nature and sunshine. The my-not-so-favourite season? WINTER! Gloomy weather, cold and rarely see the sun. It’s as if the sun is ‘hibernating’ during winter. If you do see the sun during winter, you would hear people ‘rejoicing’, yea, it’s that ‘sampat’ (crazy).
Well, gone are the days where I used to wake up at 10am, and just ‘lepak’ (relaxing) at home. I have since volunteered my time to help out in church. Holy Trinity Brompton has 3 blocks of office, each block has 4 floors, and they have 300+ staffs! So instead of finding jobs online, I decided to just spend my time helping out, at the same time to build up my confidence.
I supposed you could call it God’s favour, all my life I have pastors surrounding me. I have the privilege to work as PA for Pastor Noah back in Youth Aflame. Those ‘tormentoring’ times is coming in handy 🙂 We had Pastor Victor and Pastor Kelly as our marriage counsellor, and now, I’m working for one of the clergy in HTB. He’s in charged of many departments with one of it was Global Alpha Training (GAT). It’s more of organizing spreadsheets and emails. Alpha International week is coming up, so I’m gonna be even busier helping out.
London, can be both a exciting and not so exciting place to be in. It’s a huge metropolitan city where you get to meet many internationals. I get to meet a German lady (who loves Malaysian food!) and a Philippine lady under one roof (in the office). You get to meet different cultures and you exchange your experience with each other. But it could also be a lonely place if you don’t have much friends, since London is very individualistic. I think every big city is almost the same, where people in the city care less about other people around them.
It’s been a very interesting year for me. I can’t wait to look forward to what God has installed for me. Cheers!
