Cold and Wet Glasgow

Yeap, I went to Glasgow for the first time, because Shern was going on a business trip. So I decided to tag along, and at the same time, to find my cousin, Joseph Chew. Booked the flight and it was only 1 hour flight, thank God!!! ( I hate flying)

So we reached Glasgow about 10am, took a shuttle bus to the hotel and checked in. The hotel was right smack at the city centre, so it was very convenient for me to walk around. We stayed at Radisson Blu hotel, very nice actually. Shern went off to work straight away, while I had the luxury to chill out and check out the hotel…It was raining, and cold too!

Sms my cousin and we met up during dinner time. The restaurant itself was really beautiful but the food was so so. I had some salmon with coconut steam rice (sounds like nasi lemak to us!) While we were chatting and catching up, I realized that Scottish notes are completely different than the one we use in England. It’s the same value but it was different! (See the pic on right) So I decided to take a photo of me holding a Scottish £20 note, and my cousin holding a England £20 note. Moreover if you have a scottish notes, you can’t use it in England, they won’t accept it!!! But if you have England notes, you can use it in Scotland… I don’t understand the logic of this!!!

On the second day, my cousin was kind enough to take me around Glasgow. The weather has been good to me. Sunny and clear! It was certainly different, much quieter and the people are more friendly. They actually say thank you to the bus driver when they get down to their destination, something that I have not seen in London. The city comes alive during business time, but when it gets to about 9pm, it’s totally quiet, even at the city centre!

Manage to get into museum, Scottish University and just walking around. Some of the buildings are actually quite unique, can’t really remember the names. My cousin had to work on the next day, so didn’t manage to have dinner together. Shern and I decided to go to Jamie’s Italian restaurant. I ordered a burger and it was huge! After dinner, head back to hotel.

Third day came, and it was time for me to pack the bag and go to the airport. Said goodbye to Glasgow and landed in London about 7:30pm. I was glad to be back in London because the weather was a bit warmer, definitely warmer than Glasgow! I had a great time catching up with my cousin and also touring around Glasgow, definitely won’t be my last visit! Will be back soon, very soon!

London tour, First Musical, Unexpected visitors

It has been a great first week of January 2011. After knowing that we have 2 very loving people coming to our place to stay, we were really really happy and thrilled.  They were our 2nd guests to stay in our humble little place. So the night before they came, we did a full spring cleaning on our apartment, to make sure that it looks decent, hahahha…

Came Jan 4th afternoon, my phone rang, and they have arrived at our place. They are none other than Pastor Victor and Kelly Wong. Shern was working at that time, so it was me to welcome them into our place. Their host were so kind enough to bring all of us to Lotus in Canary Wharf to have lunch. By the time we got home, it was about 5pm. So they settle down, while I went to cook dinner. Was very nervous as it was their first time trying out my food. After 30 mins, manage to cook some decent dinner which includes stir fry veg, steam sea bass and watercress soup. It was just so cool to have them in London, never in my mind would I imagine that I can meet them in….LONDON! They slept early to get ready for their intensive 2 days tour in London.

Jan 5th, woke up early, cooked breakfast and off we went to central London. It was also my first time being a tour guide in London. I was trying my best not to get lost, as I forgot to bring my map along =.= and Shern was working on that day. I manage to bring them to St Paul Cathedral, British museum and Jubilee market in Covent Garden all in one day! At night they were off to watch Les Miserables with Tony and Doreen, while I went home to rest…haha…

Jan 6th, Shern manage to take a day off, and I was very relieved. We went to Westminster Abbey, then off to Bond street to do some shopping. As it was quite a rainy day, we couldn’t do much of sightseeing. At 7:30pm we went to theatre to watch The Wicked. It was also my first musical as I don’t quite enjoy musical very much. The first part of the musical I was trying my best not to fall asleep. But when they start off the second part, it was more interesting, and it was not too bad for me. For me not to sleep during musical is really something!

Went back home at about 11pm, they started to pack as their flight was a morning flight the next day. The next early morning, called the taxi and sent them off at 7am. We were really happy and privileged to have them around. It was great to see them again.

To Pastor Victor and Kelly Wong, thanks for sharing your life with us, and being a part in our lives. We hope that you have a good time in London, and you are always welcome to come again! Come during summer ya!

Happy New Year 2011

CAN you believe it??!! It’s 2011! We got married on May 2010, moved over to London on June 2010, and here we are, its January 2011! Time waits for no one…yea, everyone knows that, but have we savour every moment in 2010? We said goodbye to 2010, and a BIG helo to 2011. Tough year ahead for everyone, finding a new job, balancing the finance as goods’ price going up…So what a better way to start off the year with FIREWORKS!!! Of course we did not go to town to cramp with other 250k ppl and watch it, we are smart enough to count down on tv! hahah….You must watch it here!

The fireworks is so nice! They said its the best in the world, better than New York and Sydney. Me? As long it’s fireworks, don’t really care where is it from…haha…We decided to make our New Year’s eve dinner with Beef Wellington and some champagne. Both of us worked really well in the kitchen for the first time! There’s always drama in the kitchen if both of us cook at the same time:

Shern: why this one no salt?

Me: can you pls don’t put so much oil!

Shern: can u put more soy sauce!

Me: can you pls get out!

It was funny! So for the first time, there was no such drama in the kitchen. The secret? Both of us do different stuff together, and help each other, and compliment one another. Not too late to do it again! hahaha…After nearly 8 months getting married, better than never!

What’s my resolution for this year? Find a job! There’s a statistic reported on the news, that every position that are available in the market, there would be 90 ppl applying for it. That’s crazy! That wouldn’t stop me from trying! Secondly, after hearing the sermon from church this evening, I pray for spirit of wisdom, to know my God better. I always have the habit of doing things ‘later’…so I have to change that now. That is something I have to work on every time! Just Do It!

What’s your resolution for 2011?
