About us

We were married on a beautiful Saturday (May 22nd, 2010) after 8 slow, painful, long-suffering, LDR(Long distance relationship), joy, sadness, frustrating etc years! Hmmm…doesn’t look very enlightening, well scroll down and you will see Our Love Story.

2001

Where it all began…Our first memory of each other was not what you see in the movie, all lovie and dovie. No way! I (Rachel) thought he was some snobbish guy, and he thought I was some ‘pasar malam’ girl. And that was how we met, in church. After few months, he started to ‘make a move’, by calling. Initially he was talking to Lydia (my sister), then when we got to talk, things started to ‘develop’.

From calls changed to drum lesson. Ahem, it’s I who taught him drum, not the other way round…hehe…There’s where the feelings came in (feeling, chicak on the ceiling…) Slowly and surely we knew we were falling in love, and one of us has to make a move (duh!). Tada…It was me! (Rachel) who made the move, see girls are so much more decisive!:P The journey begins…

2002

He received the offer (early Feb) to study in UK for his Actuarial Science degree (starts in Sept) which will last for 3 years. What do we do?? What do we do??!! Since we have about 7 months to spend time before he goes, we went ahead and see how things will go. Time really flies, 3 days before he leaves, we decided to go Long Distance Relationship. We don’t know much about it or how to go about, we were just ‘gung ho’ enough to stick together, with one condition: If one of us found another person (interested), then we have to be mature enough to let it go (sounds so macho, so sampat!!!) The Long Distance Journey Begins…

2002-2006

I was accepted to University of Malaya and he was doing well in his studies in UK. We were still together. We msn, called, skyped (we discovered it was so much better to use skype in 2008!) just to keep connected. There were times we struggled because of time difference, there were times we doubted whether this was meant to be. But we hung on and stick together. Every summer, he will come back to KL for 3 months, there’s where we meet face to face! As each year goes by, we were getting used to it, and were able to keep connected despite the distance. I don’t know how we do it, but we did!

2007-2009

I started working, and he was working too. Questions about future starts to float in our minds, where is this heading to? The thought of settling down in a foreign country drives me crazy. I hate changes, more so, I hate flying!!! So he came out with the idea of me going to London and see for myself, so this is where my London Travel Begins…in 2007 I went with my mum, 2008 with my dad, 2009 with Evelyn. It was always during summer, because that’s when the air ticket is cheap. So I will go to London in summer, and he will come back to KL in winter.

Then I have to make a decision, whether to stay in Malaysia or settle down in London with him. Not much of a choice! So we decided to go for Pre Marital Counselling with Pastor Victor n Kelly, and Pastor Noah n Florence. In 2009 May, he popped out the question (for more details, pls ask us! hahah…)and we were engaged.

2010

Things were hectic, with the wedding coming up…plus, we were distance away. I was in Malaysia, he was in UK. It was a challenge! Thankfully we have a group of people who helped us especially our families. With all the preparations done, we finally tied the knot on May 22nd, 2010, ending our 8 years of Long Distance Relationship. Then it was time for me to pack and get ready to move over to London. Can’t say how difficult it was for me to say goodbye to everyone especially my family. Can’t blame me, I had lived with them for 26 years!!! Said my goodbyes, and off we went to London on June 2010.

So here we are, a married couple settling down in London. Thus this blog was created, both to keep you guys updated back at home, and to bless people to0 ( we hope!). This is where our Marriage Journey Begins…
