Christmas and 1 more day to 2011….

Christmas in London this year was really different for me. One being away from home and two, I realized that all shops and public transports are closed on Christmas day @.@

So 4 days before Christmas day, I decided to make Christmas fruit cake, and tada…it was not too bad, was a little too late, as you need to feed it with rum one month before Christmas. But oh well, at least there’s something to eat on Christmas day!

Eileen and I had plans for Christmas, we even named it ‘Barbarian Dinner’, but too bad no public transport means can’t come over to our place =.= We planned from starter to dessert, fooh…the menu looks so ‘restaurany’, but we couldn’t go ahead with the plan 😥 So we have to postpone it to another day…

So Shern and I decided to buy Turkey, but ended up buying Turkey crown (the breast only). It was good, we baked it, and it was more than enough for both of us! We had Turkey with roast potato and carrots. Wanted to take some pics but I was too late, the hungry man couldn’t wait to slaughter the turkey…

Busy wishing everyone ‘Merry Christmas’ to frens and families in Malaysia, and we were just at home chilling…On the 26th, there was church service, and of all days, the Tube went ON STRIKE!!! Another day, stuck at home. It was also boxing day sales! From the news, I could really see how crazy ppl are going after the sales, especially in Oxford Street. But it was super cheap so thats why, and moreover next year, they are going to raise VAT tax so a great reason to buy! But it was not all so gloomy, we manage to meet up with Victoria, yes, Victoria Tow in London! ahaha..with Amanda. Went dinner with them in Nandos, and had a great time catching up.

After the Christmas hype, I’m down with flu, cough and fever. Fever has faded, flu remains =.= There are alot of flu cases in the UK now, so it’s better for me to stay at home and rest and drink lots of fluids. Of all times!!!! Oh well…

2011 is coming, can’t imagine how time could just passed so fast. This year has been a very memorable year for me, for us. Time to reflect back and move on…. 2011 here we go!

Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow…

Never would I thought I can experience snow so soon after I came back from KL. It started to snow on Friday, and it was just like rain drizzling, not much, the floor wasn’t even white when I came out. I waited for Eileen at the train station, we planned to do nasi lemak for lunch. It was a little cold, so I thought I would just go to the nearby shopping mall and wait for her miss call.

It was not long, after 5 mins, I came out of the shopping mall, and the streets were all white!!! It is really snowing!!! It was heavy too. So I quickly went to meet Eileen, and we took a bus back to my place for lunch. I was shocked but at the same time excited, since it was my first snow experience.

While cooking, we decided to play some kinect games. It was really really fun to play with Eileen. I was just laughing all the way (which was one of the reason I lost ok…ehem…hahah). We played track & fields, ping pong, football, and volleyball.

We cooked some curry rendang chicken (using GimSon sauce), and nasi lemak, with peanuts, hard boiled egg and cucumber. No anchovies (*pointing finger at Shern*. his fault!)…But we really enjoyed it! I even made coconut & lime ice cream. It was definitely a coconut theme lunch! hahah…everything was coconut, the rice, the curry, the ice cream too!

We rest for a while, and we thought, why not we head to the small little park and make some snow man! So off we went, with our gloves and boots. It was really beautiful to see everything white! I tried my best to build one snowman, but it was really hard. Eileen told me you need skill to build snowman, I was like…..speechless. Snowman also need skill??!!Oh well, finally we manage to build a tiny snowman, better than none!

We did snow angel too! It was Eileen’s idea. I don’t even know what is snow angel…all this time when I was doing snow angel, Eileen recorded me, which I didn’t even notice!!! It’s uploaded in FB!!! Eileen: you are evil!!! hahha…but we really had fun!

About 5:30pm, she head back to her own place. I really enjoyed her company. Guess I will have more sampat people in my life….hahhaha(that includes you, Eileen!)

My first experience of snow has been great! But at the same time, it can be quite ‘mafan’. You can’t really go out, and if you do go out, got to be more careful since its very slippery. I’m thankful, to be able to see all these wonderful creations. Just being able to stand at the window side and stare at the snow falling to the ground, life is just full of excitement! (L.I.F.E- Life Is Full Excitement).

Let is Snow, let is Snow, let it Snow…

KL trip Part 2 – FOOD!!!

HOw can you not like food when you are in KL right??? BUT I was sick most of the time :s, to make the matter worse, I couldn’t eat dinner for one week!!!! All the nice food, including the photos here, I could only afford to stare at it and not eating it…How torturing???!!

Everytime when there’s dinner, I would feel like puking and I don’t really feel like eating. Well, everyone thought I’m pregnant, which I’m not, if I am, everyone will be informed rest assured. Went to see doctor, ate medicine but no improvements. So my dad decided to take me to see chinese physician. Off we went, just told the doc my symptoms and poom…he said :”heat stroke” I was dumbfounded…Of all person, I can get heat stroke??!! It’s an embarrassment…I grew up playing under the sun, and just because I went to London for half a year, I had heat stroke???!!! I laughed, at least now I know what to do. The doc gave me some chinese medicine for us to boil and drink, and I was well enough to eat dinner at the second week! I was so happy!!!

When I thought I could finally eat, sore throat came =.= I could still eat, but it was really painful…Why couldn’t I eat in peace??!!! But at least during the first week, I could eat breakfast and lunch. So the 2nd day after I arrived, I called Eve at 6:30am to eat breakfast! hahah….it was a torture for her to wake up so early to teman me eat dim sum at 7:30am. Since I was having jetlag, I arranged few morning to torture people…hahah…I had chee cheong fun, wan tan mee, chicken rice, yong tau foo and etc.

Manage to meet up with Pastor Noah and the family, and also Pastor Victor n Kelly…and the rest of the youth aflame. Before we flew back on Sat, we had family dinner on fri night at Royal China Restaurant. My sore throat was not too bad at that time, and before we head out, I had diarrhea =.= It was one sickness after another! At least I get to eat some food!

It was really an eventful 2 weeks…seeing friends and families. It was cool, the only uncool thing was I couldn’t eat much of the food…oh well, guess I have to cook it myself! I would really come back next time to eat!!! The one plus thing was I manage to lose some weight in KL! yes KL!!!! Who on earth can lose weight in KL??!!! I will get my revenge when I come back to KL next time!

I WILL BE BACK!!!

KL trip Part 1 – Home Sweet Home

Going back to KL was just so fun!!!! hahaa….I bet all our families would kill me for this! Don’t worry, I will not do it again (no promise :-P). For the rest of you who do not know what am I talking about, here it goes:

No one in KL knew the exact date I was supposed to be back, except for a few (names are not provided to protect their life! 🙂 ) I managed to fool everybody(including my mother in law!!!) that I was supposed to go back on Dec 4th, but I have already bought the plane ticket to go back on November 27th. I was so excited, and hey! It was not easy ok, to keep all these secrets, I so wanted to tell everybody but I thought, why not give everyone a surprise!

So we bought all the gifts and packed and flew on November 26th, transit in Dubai, then continue our journey to KL. We reached KL about 2pm, and Shern went on to Australia. I called my good old friend to fetch me from airport, and off I went to my mission! I went everywhere to search for my family, the kindergarten, church- Daniel was stunned when he saw me! Everybody’s jaws dropped, just what I wanted to see! hahahah…. Reached home, only my dad was home, he looked at me and said: ” eh…u not coming back next week meh???” The look at his face…I’m satisfied! My dad called my mum and told her :” your daughter came back already”, my mum asked: ” which daughter??” (I have 2 sisters) Then I talked to my mum, and asked her to come back.

After 1 hour, get to see my mum, and gave her a hug…the first thing she said: “you ah, very naughty, come back also never say!” hahaha….Mission 1 accomplished. Next-my mother in law’s place. My mum fetched me to the house, and ring the door, they were shocked to see me back. Gave her a hug, and told them that I surprised everyone! It was so fulfilling to see them shocked and surprised…hahah…of course I get ‘scolding’ from them for not telling them the dates.

Just getting to see families is just priceless! The sun, and the thought of just simply put on shorts and t-shirts, is really really coooolll!!!

Stay tune for the next update!

Back in Cold Winter London…

Back from KL yesterday night (Dec 11th), how I miss family, frens and FOOD!!!! This blog will be kinda short, as there are too many events to lump it all together 😛

Manage to fly back to KL for about 2 weeks, while Shern went for business trip to Australia for 1 week. Glad I went back, but couldn’t get used to hot and humid Malaysian weather, oh boy…what have I become??!! Not a Londoner I hope!!! It’s just so great to be back in kl, put on a t-shirt and shorts, instead of putting tons of clothes in London! Seeing families and friends…wish we could stay a little bit longer. The trip is too short!

The weather has been good to us in London. It was 6c when we landed, not like the previous week where there was some heavy snowing. Hopefully we can adjust back to the time and cold weather in London quickly!

Malaysia oh Malaysia, home is where the heart is….

Watch out for the next update!

p/s: get ready to laugh!
